The Ambassador of Belize in Italy, H.E. Nunzio Alfred D'Angieri and the Ambassador of Colombia, Sabas Pretelt de la Vega as part of the project LIGHT TO FREEDOM, lighted the LIBERTY TREE in Piazza di Spagna, Roma.

As a symbol of peace and solidarity, to not forget the hostages throughout the world, for all those who suffer without its freedom, and at the same time, an emblem of hope against all forms of slavery and oppression.

As the Delegate representing a country which is the world's Biodiversity Capital, on behalf of Belize I should like to share a few ideas about the fate of our planet in terms of the environment, and in particular to address the problem of future energy sources.

25 July 2007
With the cooperation of the Embassy of Colombia, the Embassy of Belize to Italy arranged a gathering of solidarity (which was carried out in Rome and in Milan simultaneously), in favor of the 3.000 hostages taken by FARC ( Armed Revolutionary Forces of Colombia). The Nobel Prize for Medicine, Prof. Rita Levi Montalcini was present in Rome at “Trinità dei Monti Steps”. In Milan, the event was attended by the Mayor of the City, On. Letizia Moratti and the President of Lombardia Region, On. Roberto Formigoni. These two famous guests switched on two lights, which are the symbol of hope in a future of freedom. They expressed their brotherhood toward the kidnapped persons.

During a celebration in the “Bergamaschi Church”, located in Piazza Colonna, H.E. Mr. Nunzio A. D’Angieri conferred the Cross of Friendship, the Government of Belize ‘s best honorary award, to H.E. Piero Coen Montealegre, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nicaragua to Italy. The event terminated by a reception held by the Embassy of Belize in Palazzo Ferrajoli.

“Diva e Donna” Magazine published an article regarding the purchase of the largest Caribbean Island (located in Belize) by H.E. Nunzio A. D’Angieri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belize to Italy and by H.E. Piero Dario Coen Montealegre, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nicaragua to Italy.

Semestral Activity of SICA Presidency
In His quality of Pro-Tempore President of SICA(System of Integration of Central America), H.E. Nunzio A. D’Angieri held some working lunches with the Heads of Missions of the Countries, which are Members of the mentioned Organization (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama) and the Italian Representatives of some Industrial Companies and Political Leaders, with the purpose of taking into consideration the problems of Central America and Caribbean Countries and the future programs to be realized.

On 10 May 2007, a working lunch was held with the Heads of Missions of SICA and the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, On. Donato Di Santo, at the Embassy premises.

On 24 May 2007,, the same Heads of Missions held a meeting with the Italian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affair, On. Patrizia Sentinelli, at the Embassy of Belize premises.

OnOn 30 May 2007, they invited the Apostolic Nuncio to Italy, H.E. Mons. Giuseppe Bertello.

On 13 June 2007, the working lunch was presided by On. Piero Fassino, National Secretary of DS Party.

On 12 July 2007, the Guest of Honor of the working Lunch was the Mayor of Milan, On. Letizia Moratti.

On the 3rd May 2007, the British Guide “Rough Guide” updated the position of “ World Wonders”; now they are no more 7, but 25 and among these last ones it is included the coral barrier of Belize!

Pro-Tempore Presidency of SICA
For 2007 January-June semester, the Pro-tempore Presidency of SICA (Central America Integration System) had been assigned to Belize.

H.E. Nunzio Alfred D’Angieri paid a visit to the Prefect of Milan, Dr. Gian Valerio Lombardi, and to the Mayor of the city, On. Letizia Moratti, together with the Consul General of Belize to Milan, Mrs. Wendy Theresa John Charles D’Angieri.

H.E. Mr. Nunzio Alfred D’Angieri presented to His Highness Most Eminent Prince and Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Frà Andrew Bertie, the Letters of Credentials accrediting Him in the quality of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belize to the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta.

25° Anniversary of Independence of Belize

The 25 years have gone by the Country I have the honor to represent as a political Leader, are a target of development and progress, a test of democracy and maturity for a population who can finally walk by itself, even with the multiplicity of ethnic groups and cultures which form it.”
