Altun Ha

The ruins of Altun Ha are situated near Rpckstone Pond Village in the District of Belize City.
The entrance to the ruins is around 1,5 km. from the 32th Mile of Old Northern Highway.
While there is no public transport going to the ruins, there are many tour operators and tourist guides who offer their services for arrival.
Altun Ha, the most excavetd ruin in Belize, was the largest religious centre during the Classical Periuod, but also a vital commercial centre which was united the Caribbean beaches with other Maya centres in the inner part. The ruin consists of two principal sites with 13 temples and various residential structures.
The “Testa di Giada, Jade Head”, which represents Klinich Ahau, the Sun God is the most important finding to-date during excavations by Dr. David Pendergast and is the largest carved stone in all the Maya area.
