Lamanai

The Maya site of Lamanai, one of the largest religious centre is situated on the banks  of the New River in the centre North of Belize. With one of the longest settlements in the Maya period, Lamanai was populated for more than 3000 years.
In the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve, there is a Museum, the ruins of two Spanish Churches of the XVI century and a sugar refinery, built in 1860.
Lamanai is in the tropical forest, from there a spectacular view is visible from each of its Temple. Lamanai offers the possibility to have a unique experience inside the Maya culture and of bio-diversity in the tropical forest.
Lamanai is reachable by roads, airplanes and by river too.
